Medisafe Announces Launch of Biometric Integration, Enabling Patients to Stay Adherent to Their Meds and See Tangible Health Results
Motivates Patients to Stay on Track and Engage in Other Healthy Behaviors
BOSTON, MA — April 1, 2015. Medisafe™, the leading global medication management platform with over 1.5 million users across iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, announces today that it has begun integrating biofeedback into the platform to allow patients to track and correlate their adherence directly with health outcomes. For the first time, patients will be able to visualize in real-time how taking medication or missing a dose impacts important biometrics, such as glucose levels and blood pressure.
“Patients need continuous encouragement that their actions are leading to positive results in order to sustain or accelerate early engagement levels,” said Medisafe’s Executive Vice President of Marketing and Business Development Jon Michaeli. “For many chronic conditions, Medisafe offers patients early feedback that their efforts are paying off, motivating them to continue taking their medications and undertake other healthy behaviors and lifestyle changes. At Medisafe, we believe that persistence hinges on intrinsic rewards, indicators of improved health, as opposed to extrinsic rewards, such as points or status within a network.”
The product enhancement enables Medisafe users to securely input or track biometrics such as blood pressure and glucose levels from personal medical devices and apps, such as WiFi-enabled blood pressure cuffs and glucometers.
The latest enhancement continues a string of new features and functionality reflecting Medisafe’s patient-centric approach since its launch in November 2012. From the outset, users could add a MedFriend, a family, friend and/or caregiver that receive notifications in case of a missed dose. More recently, Medisafe launched a Feed that provides personalized content, recommendations and interventions based on an individual user’s profile, medication, medical condition, and interaction with the platform.
“Medisafe will continue to add new capabilities that help patients to self-educate and advocate, and more generally, stay in control of their health, aided by the expertise of their physicians and care providers and support of their caregivers,” adds Omri Shor, Medisafe’s Chief Executive Officer.
